Native of Greenwood, SC, Antonio Edwards Jr. graduated Cum Laude as a Choral Music Education major at Furman University in May 2014. He was vocal student of the highly esteemed operatic baritone, Dr. Bruce Schoonmaker. Edwards has also studied jazz piano with Professor Keith Davis while at Furman. Edwards has also composed one gospel choral piece, "We Cannot Lose with God on our Side," which premiered on August 19, 2011 with the Bethlehem Chorale of Greenwood, SC.

In fall of 2012, Antonio studied classical voice, music history, conducting and the Italian language for three months in Arezzo, Italy. His solo singing debut at Furman includes performances in Mozart Requiem (Recordare) and Handel's Messiah (Thus Saith the Lord, But Who May Abide). Antonio served as musician for Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church in Greenville, SC and currently serves as musician for St. Mark United Methodist Church in Taylors, SC. At Furman, he was a member of the Furman Singers, pianist of the Furman Jazz Ensemble, the director of the Furman Chancel Choir, and also a member of Exploration of Vocation and Ministry. Antonio served as an intern with the chapel office through 'Exploration of Vocation and Ministry' (EVM). This ministry program trains students to become leaders in developing spiritual growth and community.

Edwards is the newly appointed choral director at Emerald High School in Greenwood, SC. He would like to start a jazz ensemble and gospel choir at the high school. His future plans are to combine the studies of music, vocation, and community building to make the world a better place for others. Edwards thanks his Creator for the support of his family, fiancé, and friends.
