The W.B.J.C. was formed in October of 2009 as a means to start a new revolution in the jazz scene of Cincinnati and abroad. It is the W.B.J.C.'s goal to play an eclectic fusion of jazz, hip-hop, funk and groove music while keeping the integrity and spirit of the traditions of the jazz masters we respect so much. Most of the tunes performed live are original compositions or compositions by other band members/close friends' of band members which makes the listener's experience truly experimental, new and exclusive. In addition to playing new music, the band also performs standard jazz repertoire with more modern arrangements of the tunes, developed by members of the group. It is the W.B.J.C.'s main objective to continue the growth and development of jazz music as well as make it a more accessible vehicle for younger generations to love and appreciate truly amazing American music.
The Wade Baker Jazz Group has performed at some of the nation’s most prestigious music establishments and festivals since its inception in 2009 and has played over 200 dates per year thereafter. Following the completion of Baker’s BS (w/concentration in Jazz Studies) from the University of Indianapolis and his MM (Jazz Studies) from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, WB has been forging his own path towards becoming a member of the new generation of legendary Jazz Musicians hailing from IN. The WB Jazz Group provides an exclusive opportunity to hear eclectic yet accessible original music, played by highly skilled musicians who absolutely LOVE entertaining audiences. The group finds great joy in providing new; culturally enriching experiences to the communities they come in contact with across the sensual, expressive and purely musical planes of listening. In addition to performing at jazz clubs & festivals across the globe, the WB Jazz Group prides itself on playing performance venues such as University Performance Series, Community Arts Centers, Library Concerts, Nursing/Assisted Living Facilities and any other venues that may provide a listening experience for EVERYONE that is interested in the music. In addition to a heavy performance schedule, WB is proud to be a part of continuing jazz education through the Big Joe Duskin Foundation (based in Cincinnati, OH) which reaches out to elementary aged children and brings live jazz directly to them in their schools as well as being an active clinician and private brass instructor to Colleges, High Schools and Middle Schools across the nation. The WB Jazz Group is the OFFICAL live music provider for the Kroger Corporation, playing NEARLY every Grand Opening and Re-opening of their stores in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. WB has been fortunate enough to have independently released 2 albums, 2009’s Live at the Redmoor (Cincinnati, OH) and 2010’s studio project entitled Profilin’ (on ITunes). The group currently has 2 more live albums in the post production stage of the projects: 2012’s Live at the Chatterbox (Indianapolis, IN) and 2013’s Live at Andy’s Jazz Club (Chicago, IL). Both pending projects are scheduled to be released in the latter part of 2013 or early 2014.
