Bill Gerhardt's prolific compositional style in any genre he explores is uniquely recognizable. Equally, his ability to weave story lines with pianistic improvisations communicates in the most direct fashion. A visionary bandleader,  Gerhardt customizes his composing and knack for weaving the personalities and strengths of his band mates into seamless units. He has been acknowledged by his colleagues for these attributes for years and as exposure to a wider audience grows, so does the appreciation for his art.

“Bill is just as incredible a pianist as he is a composer…
First in the first rank of contemporary artists…such
beautiful music, the BEST I listened to in a very long time!”
-Jurg Sommer, Switzerland

Since 2007, Bill has had four releases on SteepleChase Records and one with drummer Tony Moreno and bassist Mike Holstein on Art of Life Records. Recognition from this flurry of releases is coming in the form of enthusiastic reviews, press and radio play as both “Stained Glass” and “Thrive” with his quartet  Cotangent made Bob Parlocha’s top 40 play lists. His solo piano releases are beautifully constructed, understated reflections of the deepness of his own music and personalized interpretations of select composers.
