Bio

Larry Zarella is from Sagamore Beach, MA about a mile from where the Sagamore bridge crosses the Cape Cod Canal. He learned to trap lobsters and fish for striped bass in the Cape Cod Bay, he learned to drive his first car on the Sagamore rotary, and he learned to play guitar and sing by listening to what was popular on the radio in that area in the 70's and 80's, bands like J.Geils, Aerosmith and Boston, and songwriters Paul Simon, Harry Chapin and James Taylor. Inspired by all this great music and a semester at Boston's Berklee College of Music, he packed an '88 Ford Econoline and headed west for adventure. Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and finally ran out of money and road. In Homer, Alaska he worked on fishing boats, construction crews, and in kitchens that first summer and started building a log cabin while reading the story of Richard Proenneke's One Man's Wilderness.

These days Larry is busy recording and performing music from Greenville, SC to Talkeetna, Alaska.

His band Denali Cooks plays their 'feel good' style of music throughout Alaska in the summer at festivals and music halls. During the winter he plays a unique solo show combining acoustic/electric guitars and harmonica along with a naturally expressive voice in and around Greenville, South Carolina.
